My artwork is specifically created to unsettle. My artwork is reactionary and presents the viewer with something ugly and inconvenient. I want my art to get in the audience’s face, and flick them in the nose.
I work from altered or unaltered photographs and give these images a new context. These images are altered / collaged by hand as like to keep my processes as DIY as possible. I have created these pieces as a means of reacting to what I see as an increasingly authoritarian world that glorifies acquisition of materiality and the pursuit of unrealistic perfection . I feel that these vapid endeavors are ultimately soul destroying. Our culture is one of dysfunction, instead of harmony. It cannot bring us happiness but is killing us slowly.
